The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) has moved from niche technical standard to mainstream infrastructure in under two years. This tracker monitors which platforms, devices, and organizations have implemented C2PA support. For an overview of the standard, see our complete guide to C2PA.

Camera and Device Manufacturers
Full C2PA signing at capture: Leica (M11, Q3, SL3), Sony (Alpha 1 II, Alpha 9 III, Xperia 1 VI), Nikon (Z8, Z9, Zf with firmware), Canon (EOS R1, R5 Mark II), Samsung (Galaxy S26 series). Announced but not yet shipping: Apple (iOS 20, fall 2026), Google Pixel 11, Fujifilm GFX series. The hardware layer establishes the root of trust — when a camera signs an image at capture, every subsequent handler can verify authenticity.
Software Platforms
Adobe Creative Cloud: Most comprehensive implementation. Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and Firefly all read, preserve, and write C2PA credentials. Microsoft: Bing Image Creator and Designer tag AI-generated images. Edge shows provenance in image search. Google: Search displays "About this image" from C2PA data. YouTube has begun surfacing C2PA for uploads. OpenAI: DALL-E 3 and GPT-4o outputs include C2PA credentials.
Social Media Platforms
Meta: Reads C2PA on uploads and displays "AI Info" labels. Retains server-side credential records. X: Added credential display March 2026 for Premium users. LinkedIn: One of few platforms preserving credential chains through upload. TikTok: Labels AI-generated content using C2PA when available.
News Organizations
Over 200 Content Authenticity Initiative members. Actively signing content: BBC, CBC, NYT, WSJ, Reuters, AFP, NHK, ARD/ZDF, France Télévisions, Washington Post, The Guardian (pilot), and AP.
Gaps and Challenges
Email clients do not preserve C2PA. Messaging apps strip metadata. Most CMS platforms lack integration. The screenshot problem remains unsolved. For newsrooms, the calculus is clear: C2PA signing is becoming table stakes. As AI detection proves unreliable, provenance is the most reliable trust signal available.
