More than two-thirds of editors surveyed across 35 countries indicated that their newsrooms are either already integrated or actively planning to integrate within the next two to five years. Convergence in Practice

The survey reveals that integration takes many forms. Some newsrooms have adopted a fully converged model in which all journalists produce content for multiple platforms simultaneously. Obstacles to Integration

Despite the broad consensus in favour of integration, editors reported significant obstacles. Cultural resistance from journalists accustomed to single-platform workflows ranked as the most frequently cited challenge. Technical infrastructure limitations, particularly in newsrooms with legacy content management systems, also featured prominently. Several respondents noted that union agreements negotiated for print-specific roles complicated the transition to multi-platform expectations. The Barometer suggests that the vision of integration has outpaced many newsrooms' capacity to implement it.
